Spiced Turmeric Latte

Turmeric dates back to ancient times and has been used in folk medicine to treat everything from digestion ailments to depression. Carcumin is the compound in Turmeric that is responsible for its bold color and the long list of health benefits associated with the spice.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk continually until the mixture reaches a boil and the coconut oil has melted. Transfer mixture to a blender or use a frother. (This step is somewhat optional, it just further combines all of your ingredients and gives the latte a nice froth. I use a Ninja blender and it works great.) Once you have frothed your latte, serve it with a little extra cinnamon on top.

This recipe is so versatile. You can make it your own, depending on what spices you like most. I added a tiny bit of clove to mine and about a teaspoon of honey for some added sweetness.
